It captures the excitement and vibe of the films extremely well many scenes even pull dialogue straight from the movies. And make no mistake: Lego Jurassic World is just as charming as any of the licensed Lego games that preceded it. Older kids may grow tired of these games' repetitive nature, but there's always a fresh batch of younger players who get to experience their charms for the first time. The interesting thing about Lego games is that though they rarely change much from one to the next, they remain perpetually popular among children. As usual, two-player co-op is supported, so a pair of friends or siblings can enjoy the experience together on a couch in the same room. Kids can use the stuff they collect in the hub world, an island-based dinosaur theme park where they can buy more playable characters and engage in side activities, such as rescuing park workers. That might mean breaking one or more objects into bricks to build something new that paves the way forward, or it could simply be a matter of defeating all enemies or making it to the end of a stage that has players driving a vehicle. Player-controlled Lego mini-figure characters - and, for the first time, Lego dinosaurs - move about levels reminiscent of scenes from the films, where they fight enemies, solve puzzles, and collect a wide variety of items ranging from Lego studs (the game's currency) to hidden treasures, such as mini-kits. The action is very similar to that of the 20 or so movie- and comic-book-themed Lego games that preceded this one. Perhaps the only issue is, as there's a lot of guys with dark hair and stubble, it can be hard to tell them apart! Any requirement for reading is similarly light, as although there is the odd pop up to read, which explain some of the LEGO abilities the first time you use them, most can either be guessed at, or are in simple enough English that the reading requirement isn't too tough here.LEGO JURASSIC WORLD follows the stories of all four Jurassic Park films, though players can jump straight to missions based on the most recent film, Jurassic World, if they like. If you ever need a specific character in order to do something in a level, a handy little picture of the character's face will pop up, telling you who you need to switch to. In terms of things younger children may struggle with, there's really very little for parents to be aware of here. While it obviously helps if you've seen the film in question, it isn't essential to have a working knowledge of Jurassic Park to have a good time here, as, like most LEGO games, Jurassic World epitomises pick up and play. Brilliantly, the game has full support for two player, drop-in drop-out co-op, letting another player join (or leave) at any time! How easy is LEGO Jurassic World to pick up and play? As each character has their own special ability (Lex Murphy, the girl from the first film, can scream and shatter glass, for example), you'll need to either switch between characters, or work together to make your way through the levels. Working together to bash baddies, and smash LEGO, before rebuilding it into something more useful at the touch of a button, the levels are a mixture of button mashing and puzzle solving, with an emphasis on working together. There's an accurate (if more plasticy) recreation of each film's island for you to explore, letting you hunt out collectibles, rescue employees in peril, and heal sick dinosaurs (amongst other cool things) - and a variety of more traditional, LEGO adventure style story based levels for you to play through, that take you through the events of each film. LEGO Jurassic World lets you play through the major events of each of the Jurassic Park films, splitting each up into two, unique chunks.
